What We Do

ACR is a member-driven, non-profit organization powered by volunteers. We register white and natural colored purebred Coopworth sheep based on pedigree while encouraging performance selection through a voluntary merit-based program. We also offer an Upgrade Program for members who would like to use an approved breed of sheep to attain high percentage Coopworth. Working with a professional registry provider assures the accuracy and security of our Flock Book.

Our goal is to provide services that will benefit our members. Members and their Coopworth products are listed in our online Member Directory. Members may take advantage of web advertising at our online Marketplace, and they will benefit from the extensive advertising ACR does in national and regional publications. We always feature our members in our ads and on our Upcoming Events page. An e-newsletter full of useful information is delivered quarterly.

A benefit unique to ACR is the opportunity to participate in the Members' Cooperative booth, EVERYTHING COOPWORTH. Run by talented and enthusiastic members, the booth has established itself as a destination at the two largest wool festivals on the East coast - Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival and NY State Sheep & Wool Festival in Rhinebeck. This is a wonderful opportunity for members to offer their products for sale to the public, promote the breed and get to know each other.

Our Board of Directors welcomes new ideas and encourages member participation. Many of our members have years of shepherding experience and are available to share their knowledge and offer encouragement while fostering community within our organization.
