are not currently registered? Application(s) for Registration may be made to the Open Registry Committee if --
Your animal(s) must meet the Coopworth Breed Standard and each must be identified by a private identification which corresponds to the animal's eartag/tattoo. It is expected that the animal(s) be healthy and not exhibit traits that might be cause for culling (Culling Guidelines). The ACR encourages the registration of purebred Coopworths as a means of tracking and locating genetic lines. Some older lines have recently been found and recorded. Some missing links have been located and pedigrees have been made more complete. This is exciting! It is just as important to keep track of new genetics that are being brought into the U.S. through the use of AI. All this means that we have a more extensive and accurate record of where Coopworths are and we can use that information to improve the breed. Animals that are accepted for registration through this Program will be subject to registration fees as follows:
How to Apply for Registration Please complete the Dual Purpose Request for Registration Approval ( Forms ), check the "Open Registry Program" box and attach the required supporting information. Please use these color definitions when completing the Form.
For each animal, please provide proof of previous registration if available. This might be a copy of CSSNA, CSSNZ or CSSAU paperwork, or a copy of a Flock Inventory showing the registration number of the animal. If these are unavailable, a farm pedigree that traces the animal to one of the above will be accepted. For each animal, attach a photograph and a fleece sample with it's weight noted. Be sure to put the animal's ID on the back of the photo. Photos will be returned if you include a SASE with your application. If you own a purebred ram or ewe that especially exemplifies the qualities that make up Coopworth sheep but you do not have the pedigree or paperwork to apply for registration as described above, please complete as much of the form as possible and, on the back, write about your first-hand knowledge of the animal. In some cases, the ACR is able to help trace lineage and may be able to find information about your sheep. Please send the completed application and attachments to Martha McGrath, Committee Chair, HC72 - Box 14D, Franklin, WV 26807. Questions about this Program or your application should be directed to Martha at deerrun@mountain.net or 304-358-2239. |
