At the 2006 Annual Membership Meeting, a few members suggested we apply for a booth space at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival.

The response from the membership was so positive that ACR immediately voted to sponsor the effort.

Our booth would follow a cooperative model; it would be run by members who could come to the Festival, but be open to all members who wanted to sell their Coopworth related products. A percentage of sales would go right back into funding the booth in the next year.

In May 2007, our first small group of cooperative participants arrived at the Howard County Fairgrounds overflowing with enthusiasm and ready to get to work.

Their passion for the Coopworth breed and all that it brings to the fiberarts community was palpable. Fairgoers loved our spirit, our cooperative model and our fabulous fiber products.
The booth was a hit!

We learned a lot that first year. The bonus for all of us, though, was what we learned from each other. The group worked well together, and our cooperative was up and running! As we packed up to go home, plans were already underway for 2008.

Moving ahead to the present…We've grown! We now make our home outside in the East Vendor area in a larger space. Our group of participating members grows and changes from year to year, fueling our enthusiasm and securing our future at the Festival. We've become a 'destination' and are known for our handmade finished products, crafting kits and outstanding pelts as well as fine quality fiber, roving and yarn. And it's all produced by our shepherd- members right here in the USA.

This is THE place for EVERYTHING COOPWORTH!
